Following the extraordinary flash flooding across areas of Somerset during the evening of 9 May, Somerset Council, the Environment Agency and other organisations are continuing to support residents and businesses.

There will be a series of four drop-in sessions for people to share their experiences as well as getting help and advice.

The sessions will take place in four locations at the following times.

  • Davis Hall, Howell Hill, West Camel, Yeovil BA22 7QX on Wednesday, 7 June between 1600 hrs and 1900 hrs
  • Podymore Inn, Podimore, Yeovil BA22 8JF on Thursday, 8 June between 1600 hrs and 1900 hrs
  • North Cadbury Village Hall, High Street, North Cadbury, Yeovil BA22 7DP on Monday, 12 June between 1600 hrs and 1900 hrs
  • Victoria Rooms, Fore Street, Milverton, Taunton TA4 1JU –  to be confirmed

There will be staff present from various Somerset Council departments – Highways, Housing, Civil Contingencies, Flood Management, Housing, Business Support, as well as representatives from the Environment Agency and information from insurers, parish councils and village agents.

Cllr Sarah Dyke, Lead Member for Environment and Climate Change, said:” I encourage any households or business to come along and share their experiences with us, as well as raising any concerns.

“Our aim is to better understand the issues from the communities affected so that we can investigate possible protective and preventative measures to support extreme weather resilience in Somerset.

“Your feedback is vitally important as it will help improve support to others impacted by flooding. We look forward to seeing you.”
