Land in Axbridge

Notice is hereby given that Somerset Council intends to dispose of the parcels of land and interest within its title holding, known as – the open public spaces at Cross Moor Drove and Land at Woodlands to Axbridge Town Council and the transfer of the lease relating to Furlong Recreation Fields The consideration for the transfers will be maintenance for the Public Benefit.

Land in Frome

Notice is hereby given that Somerset Council intends to transfer the freehold of the Keyford Gardens currently licenced to Keyford Community Gardens to Frome Town Council. The consideration for the transfers will be maintenance for the Public Benefit.

Land in Puriton

Notice is hereby given that Somerset Council intends to dispose of the parcels of land and interest within its title holding, known as – the open space at Rowlands Rise/Riverton Road, Puriton to Puriton Parish Council. The consideration for the transfers will be maintenance for the Public Benefit.

Proposed Changes at East Hill Cemetery, Frome

Somerset Council is proposing a change to part of the Lawn Cemetery Section at East Hill Cemetery, Frome (BA11 5JW).

What is proposed

  • A defined area currently used for lawn-style burials would be changed to a Traditional Section.
  • New lawn-style burials would stop in this area.
  • The new Traditional Section would allow a wider range of memorials, such as headstones and kerb sets, in line with council regulations.
Important:
  • No existing graves will be disturbed, and no remains will be moved.

A public consultation will run for three months:

  • Start date: 1 June 2026
  • End date: 1 September 2026

Feedback is welcome from:

  • Grave owners and relatives
  • Local residents
  • Funeral directors and memorial masons
  • Faith groups and other interested parties
