When you need to tell us about a change

You need to tell us when:

  • you move into, within or out of the area
  • something changes which may affect how we deliver services to you or your entitlement to support or benefits

Changes may include:

  • name
  • address
  • number of people (over 18) living at the address, including a child turning 18
  • income
  • health

Changes may affect:

  • the amount of Council Tax you pay
  • the amount of housing benefit or Council Tax support you receive

There may be other services that are not mentioned here.

Register a death

First, you should register a death with a Registrar within 5 days.

The registrar will give you a reference number. You can use this with the government’s Tell Us Once service. This service lets you report the death to the council and other government services in one go.

If you are a landlord, estate agent or letting agent

You can also use the portal to report changes such as:

  • house purchases and details of the new owner
  • new tenancies
  • tenancies ending and people moving out
