Somerset Council offers an iPad loaning scheme. Members of selected Somerset Libraries (16 and over) can borrow a device for up to six weeks free of charge.

The scheme is designed for anyone – including people who may have little or no experience in using IT.

The tablets are pre-loaded with links, information, and support for anyone in Somerset currently looking for employment, or if you think you may need to be looking soon. There are also pre-loaded links to information and support around health and wellbeing and various online resources, such as eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers or comics.

How to Access Support

To borrow an iPad from Somerset Libraries, follow these steps:

1. Join Somerset Libraries: It’s free and easy. You can sign up online or visit your local library to become a full member.
2. Check Availability: Contact your local library to make sure an iPad is available and to set up a time to visit.
3. Sign Up: Fill out an iPad borrower request form and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
4. Borrow: Pick up your iPad from any Somerset Council library or the Home Library Service. Remember, iPads can be securely locked if needed, and you should return it within 6 weeks.
