Introduction

We provide litter bins to allow you to dispose of your litter. Litter bins in busy areas may be emptied each day and dog waste bins are normally emptied once a week. You can help us keep Somerset tidy by using the litter bins whenever possible. Litter in a public place is unsightly and can be dangerous to animals.

Litter Bins

It is an offence (even if it is only a single sweet wrapper) to leave litter. The average fine for littering is around £75 but can be up to £2,500. So always try to use a litter bin – or take it home. For more information on litter and the law, visit Keep Britain Tidy: Litter and the law.

You can report damaged bins or apply for new bins using our online forms below or by emailing, phoning or writing to us.
