Autumn After School Clubs

Skool Beanz After School Gardening Club welcomes all children aged 4 to 13-years-old to our very own allotment.

Activities are guided by the seasons and can include:

• Seed sowing
• Planting and harvesting vegetables (and eating them!)
• Cutting flowers for posies
• Watering
• Making and spreading compost
• Cutting back dead plants to go in ‘Muddy Buddy’ compost heap
• Feeding the birds
• Weeding games
• Seed saving
• Dead heading flowers

We also do lots of upcycled art and nature inspired crafts such as:

• Decorating jam jar lids to make hanging mobile ‘jamdeliers’
• Creating signs for the veg and flowers around the allotment
• Flower hammering on fabric and greetings cards
• Making origami seed packets.

At the beginning of each club we sit together and look at the list of gardening and art jobs that need doing on the Skool Beanz jobz board. Children then choose what they would like to do. The Skool Beanz allotment is a beautiful place to be and we encourage the children to explore and immerse themselves in the space and the nature within it.

Safety:
Your child’s safety and wellbeing is of utmost importance and we always have two adults supervising, including a trained first aider.

Collection: Parents or Guardians please collect your child from the allotment at 5:30pm.

Parking: To keep residents happy and to reduce congestion, please park at the Villa Verde Car Park or Chilthorne Domer Rec car park off Main Street and walk the short distance to the allotment to drop off and collect your child. Thank you.

What to bring and wear:

Please make sure your child has the appropriate clothing for the time of year:

• Colder months – warm layers and waterproofs.
• Warmer months – Sun hat and sun cream
• Always wear proper footwear – boots, trainers or wellies to protect toes.
