Description
The nhs Health Check in a free check-up for adults in England aged 40-74 who don’t already have certain health conditions. The check looks at your circulatory and vascular health and helps you understand your risk of developing disabling diseases.
Your appointment takes about 20-30 minutes. Here is what to expect:
– Simple questions about you and your health, family history, and any medication you take
– Measurements of your height, weight and waist
– Blood pressure check
– Quick blood test for cholesterol and sugar levels (results in about 5 minutes)
– Personal risk calculation for cardiovascular disease
– Tailored lifestyle advice to help you stay healthy
– Results sent to your gp if you are seen by our Outreach Team or a pharmacist
As we get older, our risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes increases. An nhs Health Check can spot early signs and help you take action to stay healthy for longer.
