About the event

For autistic and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder individuals, arfid (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) isn’t stubbornness it’s a complex storm of sensory overwhelm, anxiety and biological responses, that turns eating into genuine fear. Most advice fails because it doesn’t understand the neurodivergent roots of this struggle.

If you are supporting a child or young person with autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and arfid, you are not alone. Join our workshop, created specifically for parent carers, where you’ll gain a deeper understanding of arfid, hear from someone with lived experience, and explore practical solutions that can make everyday mealtimes less stressful and more positive for the whole family.

We’ll explore:
What arfid is.
What contributes to arfid.
How to support someone with arfid.
What else it could be.
Tips for encouraging eating without pressure.

This isn’t about forcing bites. It’s about reducing fear, honouring sensory needs, and finding sustainable paths to nourishment and peace.
