About the event
Growing up alongside a sibling with additional needs can bring many positive experiences, including empathy, understanding, and resilience. However, siblings may also experience a range of emotions, including confusion, frustration, worry, jealousy, guilt, or a sense of responsibility. These feelings are often difficult to express and can sometimes go unnoticed.
This supportive and practical workshop is designed to help parents and carers better understand the experiences of siblings and explore ways to nurture positive family relationships. Together, we will look at how to ensure siblings feel heard, valued, and supported while helping them develop a meaningful understanding of their brother or sister’s needs.
We will explore:
How having a sibling with additional needs or neurodivergence can impact children’s experiences and emotions.
Ways to ensure all children feel valued, recognised, and included within the family.
Practical approaches for promoting positive sibling relationships and reducing conflict.
