Wise Workshop: Understanding your Childs Sensory World

About the event

Does your child or young person experience sensory differences? Perhaps they find loud noises overwhelming, avoid certain clothing because of itchy labels or uncomfortable textures, struggle in busy environments, or become upset by strong smells. Alternatively, you may have a child who is constantly on the move, running, jumping, climbing, spinning, and seeking new adventures wherever they can.

It is important to remember that every child is unique. Your child may relate to some of these experiences, all of them. Sensory processing differences look different for every individual, and what one child finds calming, another may find overwhelming. Understanding your child’s personal sensory profile can help you better support their wellbeing, emotional regulation, learning, and participation in everyday activities.

This workshop will help you explore how your child experiences and responds to the world around them, giving you practical strategies to support their individual sensory needs.

In this workshop we will:
Explore what sensory processing is and how sensory differences can affect children and young people.
Identify sensory preferences, including sensory-seeking and sensory-sensitive behaviours.
Share practical strategies to support your child’s sensory needs at home.
