About the event

Behaviour is often a response to how we experience and process the world around us. For many neurodivergent children and young people, sensory information can be difficult to filter, interpret or manage. When sensory needs are unmet or environments become overwhelming, this can lead to stress, anxiety, emotional dysregulation and behaviours that are often misunderstood.

This practical and informative workshop explores the connection between sensory processing and behaviour, helping parents and carers understand why certain reactions occur and what children may be communicating through their actions. By understanding the sensory drivers behind behaviour, families can develop more effective ways to reduce distress and support regulation.

In this workshop, we will explore:
The impact sensory experiences can have on emotions, behaviour, learning, and wellbeing.
How sensory overload, sensory seeking, and sensory avoidance can contribute to incidents and challenging situations.
How to recognise common sensory triggers and signs of overwhelm.
