About the event

Behaviour is often viewed as something that needs to be managed or changed. However, for neurodivergent children and young people, behaviour is frequently a form of communication, reflecting unmet needs, anxiety, sensory differences, communication challenges, or difficulties with emotional regulation and executive functioning.

This practical and neuro-affirming workshop helps parents and carers look beyond the behaviour itself to better understand what may be driving it. By exploring the underlying causes of distress, you’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to respond in ways that support your child’s wellbeing, reduce anxiety, and strengthen relationships.

We will explore:

Why behaviour is a form of communication.
How sensory needs, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm can influence behaviour.
How to identify triggers and recognise early signs of distress.
Practical approaches to support regulation and emotional wellbeing
