Description

An extensive sandy beach on a stunning stretch of coastline, with traditional seaside promenade and seafront. The beach features dramatic concrete stepped sea defences dating from the late 1980s and a jetty for launching small vessels at high tide. The promenade has seating shelters along its length and a Beach Office.

A privately-owned amusement pier is sited in the middle of the beach, and at the northern end stands the council-owned Low Lighthouse, an iconic nine-metre-tall wooden structure (see separate listing).

A privately-owned sailing club is based at the south end of the beach, with a club house and pontoon mooring at the mouth of the River Brue.

From southern end of the beach, Apex Wildlife and Leisure Park can be reached by a short and picturesque riverside walk.
