Description

Two former quarries now used for military and commercial explosives-based training and research and development. The site has excellent access and considerable space making it suitable for filming, set builds and use as a unit base.

Quarry one: approx. 3 sq. km of space, with steep/sheer quarry walls on three sides. Features two abandoned industrial structures – a concreate basher and a large storage shed currently housing a crane and various train-related equipment, several short sections of railway line, abandoned pieces of industrial machinery and a large expanse of open, even gravelled land.

Quarry two: features a lake measuring 120m by 108m with an average depth of 5m that can be used on or underwater filming, and a 1 sq. km open training area surrounded by sloping cliffs with a collection of shipping containers, a diesel train carriage and two buses, small reconstruction of military trench.

Between the two quarries is a 100ft high viaduct which can be used for rope work. The site is well-versed in the safe use of explosives and military training.
