The Courtroom has an impressive, vaulted space and features a giant fireplace and decorative plasterwork. Historical evidence points to King Charles 1 and his entourage using it for residence on a visit to Chard. Plasterwork depictions of Proverbs the Scales of Justice are a clue to this function and lends a foreboding atmosphere to the space.
There is electric power, water supply and a single toilet on the Ground floor. No power or facilities upstairs nor in the Courtroom.
