Purpose of the Processing Somerset Council has statutory duties under housing and homelessness legislation. We process the personal data that we collect about you because it is necessary for us to comply with our legal obligation to assess an applicant’s circumstances in order to provide homelessness and prevention services

    Who is the data shared withWe may share your personal information with third party services to help with your housing issue (depending on your situation).

    We may be required to share your personal information with other data controllers with a data sharing agreement in place, such as:

  • Other local authorities
  • Jobcentre Plus
  • Health professionals
  • Social Services
  • Landlords/agents
  • Support agencies
  • Educational services
  • The armed forces
  • Prison services
  • Emergency health services
  • The Police
  • Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service
  • Ministry of Justice (MOJ)
  • With your agreement, we may also share information with your family/friends/support workers to help us assess and progress your request for housing assistance.

    Your personal data may also be shared with the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) for the purpose of evaluating and researching homelessness nationally. See the MHCLG Privacy Notice for further information.
