Services covered by this privacy notice – Somerset Lifeline

Purpose of the processing – The personal data you provide is used to be able to provide telecare services through the Council’s community alarms service, Somerset Lifeline. This service includes the provision of emergency alarms, peripheral telecare devices, a 24/7 Contact Centre and emergency response services.

Legal basis for processing personal data

Article 6(b) – processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.

We rely on the following provision of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as the lawful basis for processing your special category data:

  • Article 9 2(g) – Substantial public interest. In order to deliver some services, it may be necessary to process data which is classed as a special category. This is information about you which, due to its nature, is afforded additional protections under data protection law.

  • Address
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number
  • Payment information
  • Contact Details of next of kin and or emergency contacts keyholders
  • Contact details of care companies and GP information
  • Property access details

Special categories of personal data being processed (if appropriate) – Data concerning health

Who the data might be shared with

  • Other council departments
  • Emergency services – Ambulance, Fire, Police
  • NHS
  • BT Group – until 31 December 2025 as part of the nationwide Digital Switchover

How long will the data be kept for

Data will be held for six years following customer account closure.
