Safe, Warm and Secure Grants and Loans

Safe, Warm and Secure Grants and Loans are available to assist with the cost towards making your home safe, warm and secure through discretionary grants and loans. You can find further information in the factsheet below.

Safe, Warm and Secure Grants: These are aimed at vulnerable homeowners on a means tested benefit or lower income who otherwise may not be able to afford to complete essential improvements to their home. Up to £15,000 is available towards the cost of works to remove or reduce serious hazards in the property, improve heating, insulation, ventilation and improve security or to complete an urgent repair. You can also apply if you live in a park home, residential caravan or houseboat. Tenants in the private rented sector can also apply under certain circumstances. For further information or to apply for a possible Grant from the council, please visit  the Somerset Independence Plus website

Safe, Warm and Secure Loans:

Lendology CIC is an organisation which exists to support councils to provide an affordable service to enable homeowners to help reduce the stress of funding repairs, improvements or adaptations. There are a variety of schemes supporting owner occupiers, park homeowners, landlords, and empty property owners, and the loan scheme specifically funds home repairs, improvements, adaptations, and energy efficiency measures.

The case managers will help guide you through the process of applying for a home improvement loan, assess your eligibility, how much you could borrow and the loan best suited to your circumstances.

Contact Lendology CIC directly for an informal chat about your requirements.

Disabled Facilities Grants

Grants are available to help people with disabilities to live in their own home by providing adaptations or specialist facilities.

If you think you may benefit from adaptations to your home to help you live more independently, call us on 0300 123 2224 to arrange an assessment by an Occupational Therapist. You can find more information in our factsheets below.

The Occupational Therapist will make an assessment and, where appropriate, will refer your details to us. You will be informed how much, if any, you will have to contribute so that you can decide whether or not you wish to go ahead.
