What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Working with different backup technologies and data centre components
  • Carry out daily maintenance checks on a rota basis
  • Perform maintenance and upgrades
  • Manual handling
  • Travelling to different sites around the county
  • Review and rationalise existing Disaster Recovery documentation by re-writing into clear, structured, and legible step-by-step processes to support operational readiness and recovery procedures
  • Lead on projects required by DC and DR

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Proven experience operating within a data centre or critical infrastructure environment, with an understanding of monitoring, uptime, resilience, and security.
  • Can deal with changing and competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation platforms.
