What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Working individually and with others to identify and improve overall productivity through data driven opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Incident Management, Request Management, Problem Management, Availability Management, and Asset Management ICT processes from a customer perspective.
  • Working with others to ensure the deployment and ongoing support of business requirements are sustainable using ICT systems, and services
  • As a member of a small team, covering a wide range of ICT services which are aimed at delivering services to the people of Somerset through effective internal ICT support processes.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Good technical skills and practical experience in using Microsoft 365 tools such as Powerplatform, PowerBI, Copilot, to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
  • Good technical skills and experience in configuring IT Service Management tools such as ITSM Halo.
  • Self-motivated to identify, create and implement ICT continuous improvement opportunities that support Somerset Council staff in delivering services to the people of Somerset Council.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills that you will use to engage with others within Somerset Council in delivering ICT improvements that support business objectives.
  • A willingness to focus on the creation of stakeholder value through ITIL best practices, ICT tools, and processes.
