- This role will require you to work from any of the major Somerset Council premises as and when required.

What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Working individually and with others to identify and improve overall productivity through data driven opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Incident Management, Request Management, Problem Management, Availability Management, and Asset Management ICT processes from a customer perspective.
- Working with others to ensure the deployment and ongoing support of business requirements are sustainable using ICT systems, and services.
- As a member of a small team, covering a wide range of ICT services which are aimed at delivering services to the people of Somerset through effective internal ICT support processes.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:
- Experienced in utilising IT Service Management platforms such as ITSM Halo, SolarWinds, or equivalent solutions to safeguard service availability through proactive support measures and rapid service restoration, leveraging effective knowledge management practices.
- Self-motivated to identify, create, and implement ICT continuous improvement opportunities, including the use of automation and AI tools to enhance service delivery and user self-help
- Good communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective engagement with colleagues, councillors, external suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver ICT support.
- A willingness to focus on the creation of stakeholder value through ITIL best practices, robust ICT processes, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, ideally within a local government or public sector environment.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and as part of a team, and adapt to new technologies and working practices.
