What will I be doing?

You’ll be leading the fleet management team and representing the service area as part of our Senior Management Team.

Acting as the lead officer, you’ll be overseeing the strategic and day-to-day asset management of our Council vehicles.  You will lead the service through a major transformation which will focus on building the team, implementing and maximising the benefits of new tools to take a data driven approach to reducing carbon emissions and delivering financial savings.

You will work with a wide range of services across the organisation as well as with important external partners and suppliers.  You will advise on assignment and use of vehicles, maintenance and repairs. You’ll also be managing contracted services and vehicle utilisation, with a focus on ensuring good value for money.

This is a complex service which deals with competing demands from multiple service areas. You’ll be responsible for compliance with all regulatory matters, monitoring all service areas using Council vehicles, and managing / prioritising the demand for vehicle usage across service areas.

You will also be developing strategic policies and training, spanning across different directorates, to help achieve desired outcomes and compliance. This will include managing the corporate fleet operating procedures, and driving at work policies.

You’ll also be responsible for risk management processes, Health and Safety guidance, and ensuring driver records, compliance audits and vehicle management records are administered and managed appropriately.

Furthermore, while also achieving excellent service delivery and customer relationships, you’ll also be supporting efforts to achieve carbon neutrality across our work.

This is a key role within an important service, with significant responsibility and opportunities to challenge and grow yourself professionally. If you think this sounds like the right challenge for you, then we look forward to hearing from you!
