What will I be doing?

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all street cleaning activities are carried out efficiently within Somerset.

This will include supervision of street cleaning, dog and litter bin emptying as well as fly tip removal and mechanical sweeping and will involve coordinating and supervising a team of cleansing operatives. You will be monitoring their performance and providing guidance and support, in order to ensure the timely delivery of these services.

You will develop and implement operational plans and schedules, as well as maintaining accurate records of cleansing operations and performance. You will conduct regular inspections of cleansing activities and sites. You will also liaise with residents, businesses and other stakeholders to understand and address their various concerns and issues.

Crucially, you will also ensure that works are carried out in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. You will address any non-compliance issues and ensure that appropriate corrective action is taken.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within cleaning or waste management operations.
  • Previous experience in coordinating and managing a team, and developing and implementing operational plans and schedules.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Training and awareness of health and safety practices.
