What will I be doing?
It is an administrative role like no other! You will be providing proactive, office-based support in our busy Family Time Centre based at Milford Hall, Milford Park in Yeovil, sending out regular schedules to all attending family time and welcoming children, parents and carers upon arrival. You will support the Family Time Team by ensuring Family Time sessions are booked, confirmed and recorded on the team Outlook calendar. Where required you will make the relevant transport arrangements to ensure children/parents and carers can attend their Family Time. You will provide telephone cover, taking messages and signposting as appropriate. You will update and maintain our database, LCS, with relevant information. Multi tasking and the ability to work using your own initiative are all key to success within this role.
The nature of the work is sensitive and highly confidential; the tasks are varied, and you will be given full training and support to undertake them. It’s a fast paced, pre-emptive and reactive role and you will be expected to manage a number of varied tasks at any one time. The workload can be very high, and attention to detail is essential to ensure information is correct and family time sessions go ahead successfully.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
It’s really important that you are passionate about helping to improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people living in Somerset. As an Operations Assistant, you will have a warm, friendly, non-judgemental manner in order to help the families we support feel comfortable. You will need to be calm and kind in difficult situations and conversations. Previous office/administration experience is advantageous, but if you have an interest in administration, good organisational and accuracy skills, ability to multi task, a willingness to learn and are a good team player, we can provide all of the appropriate training and support for anyone coming from a non-administrative background – just tell us why you think you’re the person we’re looking for in your application.
You will be educated to GCSE Grade 4 (C ) or above standard in English and Maths. You will need to be familiar with all Microsoft Office programmes.
We’re proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset. An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.
We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich our team. You can always contact the hiring manager for a chat if there’s anything you want to talk about before you apply.
