Some key information
Responsible for providing comprehensive administrative and technical support to the functions and initiatives within the Strategic Partnerships service area. Includes booking, planning, promoting and providing support for meetings and events, research and data analysis, collating information and drafting reports, project support. Troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining accurate records, and providing timely reports and updates.
- This post will be based in either County Hall in Taunton or Shape in Shepton Mallet with some home working flexibility.
- 25 days annual leave per annum (pro rata for part time hours).
- The role involves attendance at regular evening meetings at sites around Somerset and therefore ability to travel is a requirement.
- This is a permanent post within the Strategic Partnerships service of Somerset Council.

What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Working with a wide range of partners, including City, Town and Parish Councils, Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise Groups, Businesses, the Police, the NHS and colleagues within Somerset Council you will be supporting the team to work with communities to identify and understand local priorities.
Your day to day work will include:
- Supporting stakeholder events including the delivery of the 18 Local Community Networks (LCNs).
- Ensuring the smooth running of main LCN meetings: providing technical support for hybrid meetings, managing IT and note taking.
- Booking venues, helping to manage email boxes and organising meetings with a range of stakeholders.
- Raising and managing purchase orders.
- Supporting statutory functions including the process for Assets of Community Value and other administrative duties to meet the needs of the wider Strategic Partnerships team.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:
- Educational qualification to A level or equivalent.
- Experience working in a partnership or engagement role.
- Experience supporting project governance and reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple communications.
- Financial administration skills.
