Some key information
- You will be based across the Mendip area of Somerset, but you may also be required to travel between other registration offices in Somerset and North Somerset areas at short notice so the ability to travel is essential
- Annualised hours - 16 hours per week (agreed rota 1 month in advance and flexible days/hours)
- The salary for this role is Grade 12, ranging from £12,366 to £13,864 per annum for 16 hours per week (this equates to £14.82 to £16.62 per hour).
- 28 days annual leave (pro rata for part time)
- Permanent contract
- The role requires some weekend working, including Bank Holidays. You will receive a rota in advance to enable you to plan ahead.
- You will be responsible for delivering key life events for the residents of North Somerset and Somerset

This role may not be what you expect, the work of a Registration Officer can be varied and sometimes challenging but also very rewarding. In any one day you can expect to carry out a variety of registration duties from births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships through to Welcome ceremonies, still birth registrations and death-bed weddings.
We are looking to recruit a Part-time Registration Officer based across the Somerset / North Somerset patch. Although based in Weston-super-Mare, you will be expected to work across our teams in other areas of the county. You will need to have the ability to travel around the county on occasion.
- You will need to enjoy working with members of the public and have a desire to deliver as positive an experience as possible at key events in their lives. With a high degree of professionalism
- You need to possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written, proficient all-round IT skills including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- You will need to be able to work effectively in a team environment, consistently, and collaboratively across various teams and locations.
- You will need to possess effective personal organisational skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities whilst maintaining accountability for your own workload, taking accountability for own workload.

- Grades 9-4 (A* - C/Level 4) in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent
