  • 30 days annual leave - plus bank holidays

What will I be doing?

As our Flood and Coastal Engineer, you'll be one of our go-to experts on flood and coastal management – playing a crucial role in protecting communities from flooding and coastal risks. It’s a high-priority role where you make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Day to day, you’ll

  • Advise on flood and coastal management issues across the Council and with external partners
  • Support planning applications with technical input on drainage and flood risk
  • Help develop and manage flood and coastal infrastructure and maintenance plans
  • Conduct site inspections and coordinate with contractors and consultants
  • Promote sustainable and innovative engineering solutions

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be, however you will need:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering (or similar)
  • Experience in flood and coastal management
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • A solid understanding of relevant legislation and infrastructure planning
