What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
The LibrariesWest Consortium comprises 7 library authorities in the South West. It provides services, including a joint Library Management System (LMS) and a shared Bibliographical Services Unit, to approximately 150 library sites across the Consortium. There are approximately 600 library staff working within LibrariesWest area.
LibrariesWest makes its library catalogue available to members of the public through its website www.librarieswest.gov.uk . The Library Management System, Online Application, and website are developed on an ongoing basis, as a result of public feedback and technological developments. It is a highly interactive site, enabling members of the public to search the library catalogue, place reservations for items and renew items they have on loan. It is extremely popular site with hundreds of thousands of transactions taking place annually. Many of the emerging and ongoing projects within LibrariesWest relate to the commitment to maximise the range and quality of interactivity available via the website.
Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Managing projects which contribute directly to improving library services across the Libraries West Consortium. Acts as a key project member of major Libraries West projects.
- Develop new project ideas to improve the library service for both the Consortium and our customers, shaping them into tangible programs of work.
- Facilitates the LibrariesWest Board by shaping the Board agenda in conjunction with the Chair and ensuring that reports and other documentation are available in a timely fashion so that appropriate decisions can be made which drive LibrariesWest forward. Plays a similar role for Bibliographic User Group (BUG) and Joint Users Group (JUG).
- Co-ordinates the provision of management information in support of the strategic objectives of LibrariesWest members. Ensures that management information reports are provided as required and that programmes for reporting agreed with all Consortium partners.

- Basic project management Knowledge and experience
