•    28 days' annual leave (in addition to bank holidays).
•    The contract offered is permanent and full-time (37 hours per week).

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. The Central Volunteer team works directly with services to develop and deliver the Somerset Council volunteer frame work, enabling services to identify volunteering opportunities, promote them, recruit volunteers and support them whilst they are volunteering.

An important part of the role will be delivering and helping to develop the service, including:

•    Maintaining and being subject matter expert on Assemble, the council’s volunteer management system
•    Monitoring, reviewing and presenting volunteer data for different sources
•    Providing service updates, statistics and reports as required.
•    Supporting services to be compliant with Somerset Council policy and best practice with volunteer recruitment and management
•    Supporting and promoting the Somerset Council staff volunteering policy
•    Leading on communications, including assisting services in promoting volunteer opportunities, via social media, press releases and volunteering articles
•    Ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place and setting up services with access to appropriate systems.
•    Updating resources for volunteers and services.
•    Reviewing and updating volunteer checks within required timescales.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:

•    Education qualification to A Level, or acquired knowledge through substantial experience of a vocational qualification to NVQ levels in a relevant subject matter.
•    Knowledge of volunteer management and recruitment and knowledge and awareness of volunteer best practice and quality standards.
•    Knowledge of safeguarding, safer recruitment, health and safety and data protection implications for volunteers.
•    Good influencing and negotiation skills.
•    An excellent range of IT skills and keen eye for details around Office 365 programmes, including Share Point and Excel.

We’re proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset. An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich our team. You can always contact the hiring manager for a chat if there’s anything you want to talk about before you apply.
