What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. As a Resurfacing Programme Manager, you will manage the lead delivery of Somerset Councils annual programme of carriageway resurfacing and surface dressing. This role involves overseeing planned and emergency machine-laid resurfacing and patching, as well as specialist treatments such as recycling, retexturing and Paco cover reinstatement programmes.
Your day-to-day work will involve:

• Identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement and innovation in programme delivery.
• Providing technical advice and guidance on resurfacing matters to other teams and departments.
• Overseeing the management of planned and emergency machine-laid resurfacing and patching.
• Managing Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, including the preparation of construction phase health and safety plans.
We recognise the importance of a good balance between work and home life, so we do everything we can to accommodate flexible working, including working from home, with agreement from the manager.

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:
• A relevant degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
• CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Supervisor Card.
• Experience in project management, financial management and contract management (such as NEC4).
• Extensive knowledge of surface treatments and resurfacing techniques and methods.
• Understanding of relevant design standards including DMRB and SHW.
• Knowledge of health and safety management and CDM regulations.
This role involves frequent travel across rural areas of Somerset and lone working on occasion.
