Some key information

  • The position will be based in County Hall, Taunton, however there is flexibility to work remotely and from other Council offices around the county.
  • This is a full-time position (37hrs per week) working across Monday – Friday.
  • 25 days annual leave and flexitime scheme.
  • The position is offered on a permanent basis.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of children and young people here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders (mainly schools and education settings).
  • Handling telephone and email enquiries.
  • Preparing and distributing reports.
  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings, including preparing agendas and minutes.
  • Providing administrative support to the Commercial Team Leader and wider team. You will help with designing marketing materials and creating social media posts.
  • Managing and maintaining accurate records of contracts and commercial agreements.
  • You will work closely on the Support Services for Education website (SSE), making amendments and improvements to the SSE website.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:

  • Experience in an administrative and/or marketing role.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
