What will I be doing?
As a Land Charges Officer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Local Land Charges Register and processing land charges searches. You will be gathering, verifying and providing accurate information regarding land and property within Somerset to solicitors, conveyancers, and the public.
Your day-to-day will involve:
- Maintaining and updating the Local Land Charges Register.
- Processing and responding to Lan Charge search requests.
- Gathering and verifying information from carious Council departments and external agencies.
- Using GIS systems and other computerised records to collate relevant data.
- Managing fees and payments related to Land Charge searches.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you::
- Understand Local Land Charges and property search processes.
- Have knowledge of statutory requirements and Council policies related to Land Charges., with previous experience working in a Land Charges office, or similar environment.
- Are familiar with GIS systems and experience maintaining and updating electronic records.
- Have GCSEs or equivalent in Maths. English and IT.
- Have excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail.
