What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. As a Senior Street Works Technician, you will play a pivotal role within the infrastructure and Transport Directorate, providing technical support and expertise in the coordination and management of street works. This role involves working on various elements of road closures and network coordination.
Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Working on selected elements of Streetworks permit processes, network and road closure coordination
- Providing technical advice and support to senior colleagues and external organisations.
- Supporting Street Works Technicians and Coordinators in resolving NRSWA and permit process issues.
- Assisting with the design and delivery of presentations and briefings for highway and traffic management projects.
- Ensuring timely provision of information to the public in accordance with the Corporate Charter.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:
- Relevant technical qualification in civil engineering or a related field.
- Certification in NRSWA and a familiarity with NRSWA and permit processes.
- Experience in managing and coordinating street works.
- Understanding of road closures and network coordination.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements for highway authorities.
- Some supervisory experience.
