What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the natural environment and experience of visitors to Ham Hill – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Practical site maintenance
- Habitat management & biodiversity improvement works.
- Working with volunteers in a variety of roles.
- Working alongside the Community Ranger to deliver the Activity Plan for the Heritage Fund project, including public events, community groups and schools visits.
This role is a permanent position joining our existing team of Rangers and Community Ranger to manage Ham Hill, a Green Flag & Green Heritage Award winning country park, centred around Britain’s largest Iron Age hillfort.
This role comes at an exciting time with two years left of a £3 million four-year National Lottery Heritage Fund project: ‘Uncovering Ham Hill’s past for its future’. In the remaining two years of this project, this role will support the Community Ranger to deliver the Activity Plan for the project; a programme of public engagement and community participation. At the end of the Heritage Fund project, the role will become more practical based, supporting the Rangers with conservation and land management, as well as continuing to support the Community Ranger and Visitor Services Manager with public engagement activities across the site and at the new Visitor Centre..
You’ll work as part of the Ham Hill team to provide the best outcome for nature and wildlife, whilst ensuring that visitors have a fantastic day by having a new experience or learning something new.
