- This is an office-based role, with some hybrid working, which will require travel to multiple bases across the county.
- Annual Leave entitlement is 28 days pro rata.
- The Business Operations Officer role involves overseeing various administrative and operational functions, coordinating with various departments to streamline processes, and implementing best practices to enhance productivity. The Business Operations Officer is responsible for managing resources, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with council policies and procedures.
What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Supervise, co-ordinate and monitor the work of a Team who provide specialist business operation activities to frontline professionals and Managers.
- Provide advice, guidance and training to staff on specific aspects of their role. Undertake performance reviews/supervision/appraisals and make recommendations regarding team members’ development and training needs.
- Handling sensitive and confidential data, maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

- Have a comprehensive understanding of business operations and administrative processes.
- Have proven experience in a business operations or administration role.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, can work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
