Some key information
You will work across the Somerset and North Somerset County closest to your travel base office. However, you will be required to travel between wedding venues and other registration offices at short notice, so the ability to travel is essential.
Part time and Annualised working pattern – Minimum of 150 annualised hours per annum / 2.85 - 2.9 hours per week to include being available Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays as working rota (4 weeks minimum notice of expectation)
Flexible role with seasonal demand (April – Oct) ideal to boost retirement or provide an extra income
The salary for this role is Grade 13, ranging from £13.47 - £14.58 per hour (£25,989 to £28,142 per annum pro rata)
28 days annual leave (pro rata for part time)
Permanent contract
What will I be doing?
This role may not be what you expect, the work of a Registration Ceremony Officer can be varied and sometimes challenging but also very rewarding. In any one day you can expect to carry out multiple ceremonies at different venues, this may include death-bed weddings. It requires you to be methodical and follow legal procedures.
We are looking to recruit a Part-time Registration Ceremony Officer. You will be expected to work across our teams from Minehead to Frome to Clevedon. You will need to have the ability to travel around the county to far reaching destinations not commutable by public transport.
- You will need to enjoy working with members of the public and have a desire to deliver as positive an experience as possible at key events in their lives. With a high degree of professionalism
- You need to be confident in standing in front of 100 people and presenting the ceremony, keeping within the legal framework and at licenced premises.
- You need to possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written, proficient all-round IT skills including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- You will need to be able to work effectively in a team environment, consistently, and collaboratively across various teams and locations.
- You will need to possess effective personal organisational skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities whilst maintaining accountability for your own workload, taking accountability for own workload.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

- experience of public speaking in a calm and confident manner
- possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written, proficient all-round IT skills including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- hold Grades 9-4 (A* - C/Level 4) in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent

Anything else I should know?
The salary for this role is Grade 13, ranging from £2,001 to £2,167 per annum for 2.85 hours per week / £2,036 to £2,205 per annum for 2.9 hours per week (this equates to £13.47 to £14.58 per hour). Hours will be allocated on an annualised basis.
This is a part-time, flexible role that could be ideal for boosting retirement or providing extra income.
