What will I be doing?
You’ll be playing a vital role in helping to drive Somerset Council’s active travel capital programme worth over £10 million.
This is a significant project management role where you will be involved in all aspects of the project journey. You’ll be involved in the development of new active travel schemes, following this through to the commencement of construction, to delivery and post-construction activities.
You’ll be liaising with key national bodies, such as Active Travel England, to ensure that these schemes are compliant with funding, monitoring and design requirements. You’ll also work with stakeholders to agree proposals, support local engagement activities and help to secure necessary approvals.
This is a collaborative role in which you will overlap with other key disciplines, such as planning, traffic management, maintenance and policy. You’ll also be working with local stakeholders to inform, promote and ensure successful delivery of our active travel projects.
This is a varied and proactive role within a busy team that is helping to deliver schemes that make it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle in Somerset. You’ll need to be able to coordinate different project tasks and prioritise fluctuating demands. In return, you will have a range of opportunities to contribute to different projects, and you will be given the chance to work flexibly across different project streams.
If you are a proactive project manager with experience in helping to deliver transport schemes, and you are looking for a varied role with lots of opportunities to challenge yourself and deliver big outcomes, then we would love to hear from you!
