About the scheme

The thermal imaging camera loan scheme helps you find areas of heat loss in your home. This can improve energy efficiency, reduce bills and lower carbon emissions.

The camera connects to your smartphone or tablet. Somerset Libraries members can borrow one for three days. You can request a camera from your local library free of charge.

Homes produce 22% of the United Kingdom’s carbon emissions. Somerset Libraries and the council’s climate and environment teams introduced this scheme to help reduce emissions and energy costs.

In 2023, the scheme won the SWRLS (South West Regional Library System) CIO initiative award.

For more details on how to borrow a camera, contact your local library or email Contact Somerset Libraries.
