Essential maintenance works are being carried out on the A37 in Shepton next month.

The resurfacing work on the section of the A37 from Cannard’s Grave roundabout to Whitstone corner will require a road closure. The work is being done during the evening between 6.30pm and 11.30pm from Monday, 12 February to Friday 23 February and a closure will be in place during these hours.

A diversion will be in place while the road is closed. You can find information on Roadworks and travel information (somerset.gov.uk) page.

Councillor Richard Wilkins, Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Digital said:

The road here is showing signs of wear and tear, and this is an essential part of our programme maintenance schedule.

In order to minimise disruption this will be done out of peak hours during the evening.

We appreciate this will have an impact on local traffic and we would advise people to plan ahead if they use this route regularly. If possible, the team will do everything they can to complete this scheme ahead of schedule.
