ARK at Egwood CIC is proud to announce the launch of a new Armed Forces Link Worker position, dedicated to providing tailored support for members of the Armed Forces Community (AFC) in Somerset East and surrounding areas. This initiative, delivered in partnership with the NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board, Hinkley Point C through Somerset Community Foundation, and The Veterans Foundation, aims to strengthen pathways and support for serving personnel, veterans, and their families.

A New Chapter for Veteran Support

The Armed Forces Link Worker will play a vital role in helping individuals and families from the AFC take control of their health and wellbeing. By offering personalised, one-to-one support, the Link Worker will empower people to live independently, improve their social and health outcomes, and become active members of their communities. The role also involves building strong relationships with local GP practices, agencies, and AFC providers to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing tailored support and guidance to AFC members, their families, and carers.
  • Developing and enhancing support pathways in collaboration with military charities and local organisations.
  • Raising awareness of AFC needs among local agencies and facilitating access to training.
  • Encouraging self-referrals and reaching out to those who may be hard to reach by statutory services.
  • Organising and leading practical onsite activities at ARK, supporting participants to achieve their personal goals.

A Commitment to Person-Centred Care

ARK at Egwood is committed to creating an inclusive, non-judgmental environment where everyone can thrive. The new Link Worker will embody these values, respecting diversity and supporting people in a way that inspires trust and confidence. The role requires experience within the Armed Forces, a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by veterans, and a passion for reducing health inequalities.
