Somerset Council’s 16 recycling sites will move to their autumn and winter opening hours from Thursday, 1 October 2026.
Sites will be open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and from 9am to 4pm at weekends. The autumn and winter timetable will apply until 31 March 2027.
Midweek opening days vary between sites, but all sites are open on Saturdays and Sundays.
Residents are advised to check their nearest recycling site online before travelling for its opening days, facilities and any vehicle or trailer permit requirements.
The materials accepted vary by site, so visitors should also check that their chosen site can take the items they plan to bring.
Visitors can help make their trip quicker by sorting recycling and waste into separate materials before setting off.
Queue cameras are available at nine sites: Bridgwater (Saltlands), Chard, Highbridge, Minehead, Street, Taunton (Priorswood), Wellington (Poole), Wells (Dulcote) and Yeovil. The cameras show regularly refreshed still images to help residents check how busy a site is before setting off.
