Bridgwater South Pride in Place Board wants to hear from you

The Board shared updates on the progress being made since the programme launched and discussed the next steps in developing a long-term vision for Bridgwater South. Representatives from MHCLG were pleased with the progress being made and encouraged by the enthusiasm and commitment being shown locally.

Bridgwater South is one of 169 neighbourhoods across England selected to receive up to £20 million through the Government’s 10-year Pride in Place programme. The area includes Hamp and parts of Westover, covering the communities surrounding The Meads. The funding is designed to support community-led projects and initiatives that help build stronger communities, create thriving places and give residents a greater say in shaping their local area.

The Board is keen to maintain momentum and ensure local people remain at the heart of the programme.

Chair of the Board, Sam Smith said:

Pride in Place is all about local people having a genuine voice in shaping the future of Bridgwater South. We’ve made a positive start, but this is just the beginning. We want to hear from as many people as possible about what matters to them, what they love about their community and what improvements they would like to see over the coming years.

Earlier this month, members of the Pride in Place Board attended Bridgwater Playday, where they spoke to families and members of the community about their priorities for the area and gathered valuable feedback to help inform future plans.

Local people will have another opportunity to share their views at the Mansfield Park Community Picnic (TA6 6DN),on Saturday 29 August 11am to 2.30pm, where members of the Board will be available throughout the event to discuss the programme and listen to ideas.

People who live or work in Bridgwater South are also being encouraged to complete an online survey to help shape plans and keep the community at the heart of decisions.
