In November, the Youth Forum met to discuss the NHS crisis and the proposed changes for 2035. We welcomed young people from across the county to participate in the event, which took place over Zoom.

In the session, Youth Forum members looked at the current issues facing the NHS as well as proposed plans for the future. We then discussed their opinions and views on the proposed future model for health, what career paths would be needed to run it and what needs to be done now to create this workforce.

The findings from this event were collected into a presentation that has been shared with the NHS and with services across the county.

Youth Forum is a youth voice group for young people in Somerset aged 11-18 years (or up to 25 for young people with SEND) that meets monthly over Zoom, where young people have the opportunity to have a say, to challenge and influence decisions, services and processes that affect or are important to them.

If you are or if you know a young person who’d be interested in getting their voice heard about topics that are important to, join Youth Forum by filling in our Expression of Interest form: https://forms.office.com/e/BvRrssv2JG. you can also email participationmailbox@somerset.gov.uk if you have further questions.
