Temporary changes will be made to passenger waiting arrangements at Yeovil Bus Station as work to demolish buildings at Glovers Walk moves forward.
The waiting room, and an accessible toilet, as well as operational facilities for bus station staff and drivers will move temporarily to Earle Street car park and will be open from Monday 14 July. The facilities will be open during the day while bus services are in operation.
Hoardings will go up in the running lane of the bus station from Monday 7 July. This will make sure the bus station can stay in operation while protecting passengers and staff from the demolition work. Benches and seating behind this hoarding will be inaccessible during the work. They will be moved for safekeeping and reinstated once the demolition work is completed.
Passenger and driver facilities are due to be back in place in the autumn, but this will depend on the progress of the Glovers Walk site.
Councillor Richard Wilkins, Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Waste, said:
“This marks the final phases of this work to enable future development of the Glovers Walk site. I am pleased that, as part of the work, we are providing toilets for passengers, an improvement on the current situation. We will continue to work with the bus partnership and bus operators.”
