Somerset Council is inviting anyone interested in fostering – whether you’re just starting to explore the idea or ready to take the next step – to join one of its friendly Cuppa with a Carer events this November.
These informal sessions offer a relaxed and welcoming space to learn more about fostering. Guests can enjoy complimentary hot drinks and cake while chatting with experienced foster carers, who will share honest, first-hand stories about their journeys. The Fostering in Somerset team will also be on hand to answer questions about the application process, financial support, and the wide range of fostering options available.
Fostering is flexible and can fit a variety of lifestyles. Opportunities range from occasional weekend care and short-term placements to long-term fostering and roles that support a parent and their young child. No previous experience is required – just a spare room and a willingness to make a difference. Applicants must be aged 21 or over.

Come along to one of the following Cuppa with a Carer events in November:
- Tuesday, 4 November, between 6pm and 8pm at Bridgwater Albion RFC, Bridgwater
- Wednesday, 5 November, between 6pm and 8pm at Taunton Brewhouse Theatre, Taunton
- Thursday, 6 November, between 6pm and 8pm at the Council’s Offices in Shepton Mallet
