Somerset Council’s highways teams are starting some drainage repair work in Wellington next week.

The area of Exeter Road under closure will be between the Popes Lane crossroads and the Dobree Park Junction. The work is due to start on Monday 11 September and is expected to conclude on Friday 6 October.

A road closure will be in force 24/7 until Monday 25 September, and then the closure will change to a Monday to Friday programme, with the road being shut between 9:30am and 3:30pm during this period The closure will also be temporarily lifted so that Wellington Carnival can run normally on Saturday 30 September.

There is a short diversion in place for this scheme; the area of Exeter Road under closure will not affect residential properties or nearby businesses.

A Somerset Council spokesperson said: “For some time now, the drainage on Exeter Road has needed to be repaired.

“The team are aiming to complete the work as safely and as efficiently as possible; we thank everyone in the area for their patience while this short-term closure is in place.”

A diversion will be in place, with full details available nearer the time on www.somerset.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking/roadworks-and-travel/.
