Somerset Council and Taunton Town Council will be showing their support for the Emergency Services by holding a flag-raising ceremony on Monday, 4 September.

The service will be hosted at County Hall in Taunton by the Chair of Somerset Council, Councillor Mike Best, and the Mayor of Taunton, Councillor Nick O’Donnell.

The Emergency Services Day Flag will be flown at all Somerset Council’s main offices leading up to National Emergency Services Day on Saturday, 9 September.

Councillor Mike Best said:

We’re proud to show support for our local emergency services by flying the 999 Flag.  Events over the last few years have only served to highlight their dedication and we’re grateful to have the opportunity to show our lasting appreciation.

Councillor Nick O’Donnell added:

Our blue light services are always there for us when we need them, working tirelessly to serve and protect our community, and it’s an honour to host this event to acknowledge their sacrifice and give thanks for their dedication in safeguarding our health and safety.
