The dementia technology drop-in event will take place at Taunton Library on Thursday 29 October 2026, from 10am to 4pm. No booking is needed and visitors can arrive at any time during the event.
Visitors will be able to explore dementia-friendly technology and equipment designed to help people stay safe, live well and make everyday tasks easier.
Visitors can also look around Taunton’s Somerset Independent Living Centre based at the library, although appointments will not be available on the day.
Councillor Sarah Wakefield, Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Adults Services, Housing and Homelessness said:
Technology can make a real difference to people living with dementia and those who care for them, helping people feel safer, stay independent and manage everyday life with greater confidence.
Events like this are supporting people to lead healthier lives by helping residents access practical information, advice and technology that can improve their wellbeing and independence. This was an area raised by the Care Quality Commission in their assessment of our adult social care provision earlier this year, so I am especially pleased to see more events like these taking place in our communities.
I encourage people living with dementia, their carers and families to drop in to Taunton Library and find out what support is available.
