Somerset Council is asking for your views on plans to improve support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across four schools.

The proposals include new specialist units, extra classrooms and more places to meet growing demand. They aim to help more children stay in their local community while getting the support they need.

The plans include:

  • Hindhayes Infant School, Street
A new on-site SEN unit from September 2026, supporting 6 to 8 children with an Education, Health and Care Plan.
  • Holway Park Community Primary School, Taunton
An increase in specialist places from 40 to 50 within the existing SEN unit from September 2026.
  • Oaklands Primary School, Yeovil
An expansion of the Oaklands Centre, increasing places from 14 to 32 from the 27/28 academic year.
  • Polden Bower School, Bridgwater
Four new classrooms creating 32 extra places, and a satellite provision at Somerset Bridge Primary School creating 16 registered places.

All consultations are now open and your feedback is important. The closing date is 10 July.
