There’s less than 1 month left to have your say on a public consultation designed to shape the future of children’s services in Somerset and keep families safely together, and thriving.

Parents, children, professionals, and the wider public are being encouraged to participate in the exercise to help better inform Somerset Council on what’s working well, and what changes and improvements are needed going forward.

The consultation is the result of national proposals to transform children’s social care.

The Government’s goal is to have families and practitioners from social work, the police, health, and education, all working together to promote the wellbeing of children and keep them safe from harm.

The programme is called the Families First Partnership (FFP) – and the Council needs the public’s views and insights.

Residents are encouraged to visit the Council’s consultation page and share their feedback. Completing the survey takes only a few minutes: Children and Families Social Care Families First Partnership.

Those not online can fill it in at any library or council office across Somerset.

For those who wish to contribute further to the conversation, there will be a series of follow-up focus groups available to join. Details of how to take part in these can be found within the consultation itself.

A review of all responses will be provided following the 27 November closing date.
